UK Golden VISA (Tier 1 Investor Visa)

The program was established in 2012 by the UK Government. To qualify for a Tier 1 Investor visa, you will need to have access to at least £2 million and be willing to invest your funds in actively trading UK companies.

You must be at least 18 years old to use this route, and the company you are investing in must be wholly under your control. Your dependents may also be able to join you. The Tier 1 Investor visa typically leads to settlement in the UK after a period of 5 years.

Who is eligible?

Non UK citizens.
Meet the minimum Stay requirement.
Enter UK for the first time with valid passport.
You are 18 years old or over.
You intend to invest at least £2 million in share capital or loan capital in a UK company.
The investment funds belong to you or your spouse, civil partner, or unmarried partner.
You have held the funds for two years or meet the Home Ofﬁce’s rules on source of funds*.
You have opened a UK bank account with a regulated UK bank.
The funds must be freely available to spend and invest in the UK.
You invested this sum within three months of the date you came into the UK, or the date that your original visa application was approved.

How it works?

Length and conditions of stay in the UK

Applicants can apply to come to the UK for an initial period of 3 years and 4 months. Applicants can then apply to extend their stay in the UK for an initial period of 2 years, and further extension applications can continue to be made, providing they meet the criteria for extension applications.

Indeﬁnite Leave to Remain

An application for Indeﬁnite Leave to Remain can be made once an applicant has held a Tier 1 Investor visa for a period of at least 5 years and demonstrated that they have invested £2 million by meeting the criteria above.

Accelerated Settlement

An application for accelerated settlement can be made after 2 years if the applicant has increased their investment to £10 million or 3 years if the investment has been increased to £5 million

Applicants must also demonstrate that:

They have spent the speciﬁed period in the UK and not breached any UK immigration laws
They meet the requirements in relation to absences.
They have sufﬁcient knowledge of English language and have passed a Life in the UK test.

Timeline

Step 1: Initial due diligence checks completed

Step 2: Application for British residency prepared

Step 3: Immigration application forms submitted in client’s country of residence

Step 4:

Application approved within one to eight weeks (dependent on the receiving embassy).
Applicant granted initial three-year visa.

Step 5: Applicants from certain countries required to register with the police within seven days of arrival in the UK.

Step 6: Upon expiry, applicant applies for ‘extension of stay’ from within the UK, with two-year extension issued if all criteria met.
